POST-TOP SIGNS AND FRAMES

A queue only works if people know where to enter and what to do when they reach the front. Post-top signs put that instruction at eye level, on the barrier people are already looking at, instead of on a wall behind them.

Check your post top first

This is the step people skip. A sign frame screws into a thread in the top of the post, so the post has to be tapped to accept it.

• Flat-top and crown-top stanchions can be tapped — order the tapped option when you buy the post, or check an existing post before ordering a frame.
• Ball-top stanchions cannot be tapped and will not accept post-top signage. If signage matters, choose a flat or crown top.
• Retractable belt posts use an adapter that fits over the mechanism cap — different part from the rope version.

Belt stanchion or rope stanchion?

Frames are supplied in separate versions for each. Ordering the rope version for a retractable belt post is the most common mistake we see — the frames look identical in a photograph but the adapter underneath is not. Check which you have before adding to cart.

Frames, brackets and inserts

Standard frames come in vertical and horizontal orientation and take a 1/8" rigid insert, or two sheets of clear acrylic if you want to slide paper signs in and out. The frame opens at the top so changing a sign takes seconds and no tools.

Bracket-and-adapter combos — standard 7" x 11", oval and razor styles — are the lower-cost route when you want a smaller message rather than a full frame. Heavy duty frames are available for both belt and rope posts where the signage stays out permanently or lives in a busy space.
