Why we still stock Lawrence

The Crowd Controller opened in 2002 with Lawrence Metal as our only supplier. At the time they were the name in American crowd control - Tensabarrier posts and velour ropes, made in-house rather than sourced.

The company goes back to 1881, when it started as a metal-fabricating shop in New York City, and it still assembles and ships from Bay Shore, New York. The market has changed a great deal since 2002 and we now carry several manufacturers, but the ropes are made the same way they always were. They cost more than an imported rope and they feel it in the hand - a dense velour over a firm core that hangs in a clean curve instead of going slack after a season.

We were glad to see the line still going, and glad to still be selling it.
