Cashier station lights tell a customer, from across the store, which lane is open and which number to go to. They are the difference between a queue that sorts itself out and one where people hover, guess, and pick the wrong line. Each unit is a lit panel carrying a lane number — or your own artwork — on a pole, wall bracket, ceiling drop or portable base.

Depending on the trade you will hear these called register lights, checkstand lights, checkout lane lights or lane status lights. They are the same product.

Choosing one takes two decisions

1. How it mounts. Pole mounted is the standard checkout fitting. Wall mounted suits service counters and pharmacy windows where there is no lane to stand a pole in. Ceiling mounted is for wide open floors where the sign needs to be seen from a distance. Portable base moves — useful for seasonal lanes, events and pop-up service desks.

2. How the panel is lit. Clear laser-etched panels give a crisp engraved number that reads well under store lighting. Diffuser panels spread the light evenly for a softer, more uniform glow. LED backlit panels are the brightest of the three and hold up best in daylight or under strong overhead lighting.

Fixed-mount units start at $311.62; portable-base units at $395.58.

Questions we get asked

What do I need to specify when I order?

Five things: pole length, pole finish, which numbers you want, the colour the numbers light up, and power cord length. A typical order reads “pole length 36″, satin finish, numbers 1–4, blue, 4 ft cord”. If you are not sure, tell us the counter height and we will work it out.

Can we have our own numbers, logo or artwork?

Yes. These are custom ordered. Lane numbers are the common case, but the panel can carry a logo, a department name, or any artwork you supply. Ask before you order rather than after — artwork is set at manufacture.

Pole, wall, ceiling or portable — which do I actually need?

Pole for standard supermarket-style checkouts. Wall where the customer approaches a counter or window. Ceiling where the floor is open and the sign has to carry across a room. Portable base where the lane itself moves.

What is the difference between laser-etched, diffuser and LED backlit?

Laser-etched is engraved into a clear panel and looks sharpest close up. Diffuser gives an even, softer spread of light. LED backlit is the brightest and the one to pick if the sign competes with daylight or strong store lighting.

Do they need to be wired in?

They run from a standard power cord, and you choose the cord length when ordering. No electrician is needed for pole and portable units. Ceiling and wall installations usually want a fitter for the bracket itself.

Can staff switch them from the till?

Remote and flashing-light control is available as an add-on rather than being built into the standard units. Call us with how you want the lanes controlled and we will spec it.

Not sure which configuration suits the store? Call our Electronic Queuing Specialist direct on (800) 801-7691, or send us the counter layout and we will come back with a spec.
