Storage Carts

Stanchions spend more time in storage than in use, and that is where they get damaged. A cart keeps posts upright, off the floor and moved by one person instead of three — and it is usually the difference between a set that lasts ten years and one that gets replaced.

Horizontal or vertical?

• Horizontal carts lay posts flat and stack them. Lower to push, easier through a standard doorway, and the most common choice. Available for 12, 18 and 21 posts.
• Vertical carts hold posts upright. They take less floor area in a store room and are quicker to load and unload — worth it where the same crew sets up daily.

Sizing the cart

Count the posts you actually own, not the posts you use on an average day. A cart loaded to capacity is stable; a half-loaded cart lets posts shift in transit. If you are between sizes, go up — the bases are the heavy part and they do not get lighter.

Some 12-post carts are offered with or without a tray. The tray holds belts ends, signs and small parts so they travel with the posts rather than getting lost between events.

Barricades and bases

A barricade cart is a different frame again, sized for 8 ft barricade sections rather than posts. US Weight carts are sized to their own stanchion range, including a kit that ships cart and posts together.
