Striped Stanchions

Striped stanchions carry a diagonal hazard stripe, the standard visual shorthand for "do not cross". They belong where a plain coloured post would be read as decoration rather than an instruction.

Where stripes earn their place

Warehouses and plant rooms, maintenance zones, wet floors, temporary hazards and anywhere staff move quickly and habitually. A striped barrier is processed as a hazard boundary in peripheral vision, which is exactly what you want from someone pushing a pallet truck who is not looking directly at it.

The same reasoning makes stripes a poor choice on a retail floor or hotel lobby — the message is louder than the situation, and customers read it as "something is wrong here".

Daylight or low light?

Standard stripes work in a lit environment. If the area is used at night, outdoors, or near vehicle movements, use reflective striped stanchions instead — a plain stripe is invisible in headlights, a reflective one is not.

Available across the 2", 2.5" and 3" duty ratings. Ball tops, C-hooks and sign adapters are sized by pole diameter, so match those to the post — see plastic accessories.
