Tensator invented the retractable belt barrier, and Tensabarrier® remains the name most people in the industry use for the category. This is the Tensator and Lawrence range — the original mechanism, plus the compact and specialist models built on it.

  • Tensabarrier 889 and 890 — the Advance and Slimline posts, with Universal or Basics bases, 7.5 ft or 13 ft belts
  • 886 — the heavy duty post, including a dual-belt version

Choosing a base

The Advance and Slimline posts are offered with a Universal base — cast iron with a pressed steel cover, available in matching metal finishes — or a Basics base in scuff-resistant black plastic. Universal looks better in a public space; Basics costs less and survives being knocked in a back-of-house one.
